The combination of a poor diet, lack of exercise, and a busy life have resulted in tens of millions of people all around the world having problems relating to blood pressure. Most people are simply unaware of how the heart functions and what Good Blood Pressure is.

The heart is the engine of the human body. In simple terms it can be described as a pump. It is used to transport a non stop supply of blood to the rest of the body. It moves oxygen poor blood to the lungs where it gets replenished and then pumped to every cell and organ in the body.

If you have ever had a blood pressure test then you will know that two measurements are taken. The first recording is relating to the pressure of the heart when it is pumping, this is called systolic pressure. The other value is when the heart is at rest, this is the diastolic pressure.

Keep Good Blood Pressure:

  • Drink lots of water
  • Exercise at least 20 min/day
  • Use special cooker such as Zeptor to preserve nutrients and salt

The figure is actually calculated by the pressure that is felt by the artery walls as blood is pushed along. The reading is given as mmHg, or millimetres of mercury. When you are given a set of values it is usually the systolic number which is first or above. For example “110 over 80″ means you have 110mmHg systolic pressure and 80 diastolic.

Most health specialists will define high blood pressure, or hypertension, as a sustained blood pressure reading of above 140/190 mmHg. Though at first there may be no other symptoms of high blood pressure, it is often seen as a high risk factor in regard to developing a cardio-vascular problem.

If you have low blood pressure or Hypotension then you should not be duly concerned. Unless it stays abnormally low for a constant time then it can simply mean you are in good health. Most doctors would say under “90 over 66″ is low blood pressure.
