Common Wart Removal Techniques That Work

Any physician will tell you that warts aren’t dangerous. But this doesn’t necessarily mean that you shouldn’t treat them. Warts can spread to other parts of your body or to other people altogether.

You don’t necessarily have to see your physician to receive treatment of HPV wart(s). Rather, you can start treating them yourself. There are numerous wart removal products on the market, most of which work just fine, especially those made with salicylic acid. This ingredient is extremely effective, which is why it’s found in most products.

They’re sold as topical products, meaning you use them directly on the skin’s surface. Once applied, it’s a good idea to cover it somehow. They even sell bandages that contain salicylic acid, which are much simpler to use.

In any event, what’s most critical is for you to use the product every single day until there’s no trace of the wart. Finally, it can take a number of days or even weeks to remove the wart this way, so you shouldn’t expect overnight results.

A second kind of over the counter product is the “freeze away” kits, many of which are made with liquid nitrogen. When a wart is frozen, it peels off several days later because of the cellular destruction that takes place during the freezing procedure.

The size of the wart is a key factor in the success or failure of this particular treatment. It’s hard to reach the freezing temperatures needed to properly freeze big warts while using the over the counter freezing products. Naturally, if a wart has been adequately frozen, it will start to slough off within days of the treatment procedure.

Next, there are a few other methods you should probably think about if you’d prefer to get rid of a wart yourself. That is, you might be surprised to hear that some of the wart removal home remedies work just as well as the OTC removers do. For instance, you can use natural substances, such as vitamins and herbs.

Again, at home wart removal techniques work very well most of the time, but what should you do when they aren’t working? Well, you should talk to your physician. Your physician might use prescription medication or a medical procedure to remove your wart.

Prescription wart medication works on the same principles as the OTC drugs, and some of them are even made with the same ingredients. But, there is a significant difference in potency. Not surprisingly, prescription medications are much more powerful than their over the counter counterparts.

If faster results are needed, then your physician may advise cryotherapy, which uses liquid nitrogen to freeze the wart in the same way as described previously.

If all else fails, your physician is likely to propose surgery. But when I use the word surgery, I’m not referring to physically cutting the skin. Alternatively, these procedures use laser light and electric currents to burn the wart. Surgery is the quickest way to get rid of warts, but it comes with a price. The risk of scarring is higher and they also take longer to recover from.
