God Loves Us As What We Are And Who We Are
I want to share about this touching story. This story is all about a girl named Laura Lang. As stated by her mother, Wanda Wilson, she came into this world with disability and when she reached Five she became completely deaf.
Laura Lang made painting her life. That is what she likes to do; thus it makes her happy everyday. She likes to paint forms of birds like pheasants, blue jays and cardinals and more. After painting, she’d laugh, smile and clap her hands; her mother knows her daughter is simply happy that her painting looks beautiful.
Lang still seems to maintain a positive attitude despite her disability; and that is the thing I like her the most. But would you believe she is really not hearing anything? In my opinion that, I would say, NO. I really believe there is someone whispering to her that she is a child of God and therefore she is precious in God’s eyes. I believe that she is hearing the voice of God. We can observe it in her. I’m sure God is present in her life, that guides her life path. Unlike other children around, she’s contented with what she has. She’s contented having her mother who’s always there to support her and God who’s always there guiding her life.
Lang’s mother, Wanda, knows everything that her daughter is intending to express. Her mother appreciates her in the painting she actually is making. When she is painting, people would ask, “What is she telling?” her mother would put a smile in her face and say, “She’s very proud of them (painting)”
“Not only is Lang communicating through sign language, but also her painting shows her overall mood – she’s just plain ol’ happy. Lang is not able to hear the high-pitched tweets of a bird, but that does not make the detail in her paintings less powerful.”
“When God takes one sense from us, he gives us another,” her mother says.
“What do you think about being able to draw for people?” her mother signs.
After a couple of seconds, Lang’s mother sighs, smiles and translates.
“She just thank God that she can,” Lang’s mother translates.
Laura is an example of a person who is simply thankful for the gift of life; regardless the disability that she has, she managed to experience hearing the voice of God. She gave us lesson for being thankful and contented of the things we have in life and simply live happily and peacefully.
