Depression is more likely after a close person dies. Mental depression historically has a stigma associated with it. It was considered a personal fault before it was recognized as a disease. As a result treatment wasn’t applied in a way that could help the patient. Negative effects persist through all the stages of depression. That’s why early detection is vital to treatment.

Once the disease has progressed to severe depression the illness must be treated. When depression has reached this level then the thought of suicide is ever apparent. The opportunities for help have passed because the cries for help haven’t been heard. Treatments include a combination of talk therapy and prescription drugs. There are also support groups that offer a helping hand. There are also natural herbs you can use to treat the disease. People who suffer from any type of depression have options. Seek medical help if you or anyone you know shows signs of depression. Actual cures for depression might consist of a combination of antidepressants, psychotherapy, nutrition and alternative holistic therapies, similar to acupuncture.
