The Definition Of Codependency
A broad definition of Codependency is a conduct or behavior where one person cares for the other person who is dependent on her or him, often inappropriately. Another term very popular or you can say related to codependency is enabling. It might seem like you are doing the right thing you are giving vent or airing the destructive behaviors, of the person you care for to continue. These persons, in turn, try to have an effect on how you behave.
Before labeling yourself as either a co-dependent or an enabler there are many things to consider. You should not consider yourself into the league of a codependent until and unless you have reviewed your environment and situation honestly. If you have been sympathetic and compassionate to the sufferings of an individual’s quandary or predicament, then it does not mean that you are an enabler. However, if you are allowing any active alcoholic to stay at your place and you are paying all his bills and this has been the scenario for quite a while, well, it is a possibility you are codependent. of the person towards you and themselves.
You may not realize it but Codependency could make you sick and in the process would not even help your loved ones. You might be doing it with the best of intentions but if you dig deep into the matter, you would begin to see why it is the wrong thing to do. Moreover, codependents often feel compelled to offer advice to the persons they love, although it is not at all wanted. But somewhere wrapped in this process they try to please others and seemingly would want their loved one to see how much they are necessary to their lives and in the process would even abandon their work for them.
Codependents need help because sometimes the love just takes the shape of obsession which in the end becomes very fatal. Though there are numerous other symptoms but if you come anywhere near around this, you need some help. So, first thing that you should do is let the other individual live his or her life, do not stop loving and caring him or her but minus obsession. Second, live your life and start thinking about your fervor with a new passion and excitement. | and rejuvenated enthusiasm. [/spin]
You might be a codependent but you are a very strong person. So far you have just been putting all your energy and emotion something out of your control. Your strength gives you the power to change everything, now it is time to start new.
